WHEREAS, the Gahanna Police Department handles obtaining cellular phones for the entire City; and

 

WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Howard received letter proposals and has recommended that we proceed to obtain 50 new cellular phones for the remainder of  the 2000 year and has provided cost figures, and supplemental appropriation will be needed; and

 

WHEREAS, proposed cost for the phones for the year 2001 should stay within the budgeted amount of $25,000; and

 

WHEREAS, it is imperative to proceed with this supplemental appropriation for cellular phones for the remainder of the 2000 year, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with VERIZON WIRELESS, 2760 Brice Road, Reynoldsburg, Ohio 43068, for 50 cellular phones, in accordance with City specifications.

 

Section 2.  That FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($5,000) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unappropriated, unencumbered balance of the General Fund to Account No. 101.211.5483, Cellular Phones, to cover the herein costs.

 

Section 3.  That ORD-1-2000, passed January 3, 2000, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.

 

Section 4.  That waiver of second reading has been requested by Safety Committee.

 

Section 5.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and date of signature by the Mayor.
