TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONSENT LEGISLATION WITH THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (ODOT) FOR BRIDGE INSPECTION PROGRAM SERVICES FUNDED BY THE STATE OF OHIO; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.
BODY
WHEREAS, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is widening I-270 to create a fourth southbound lane on I-270 from I-670 to Big Walnut Creek; and
WHEREAS, in addition to the widening, the project will resurface I-270 from Sunbury Road to Big Walnut Creek, and raise the bridge that carries Goshen Lane over I-270; and
WHEREAS, this project is expected to begin in the spring of 2017, and be completed in the fall of 2017; and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer is requesting legislation to consent to the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) to allow this work to move forward; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to proceed as soon as possible in order meet the schedule for ODOT, and all for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to consent to the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) bridge inspection program, funded by the State of Ohio, 1980 West Broad Street, Third Floor - Mail Stop 5180, Columbus, Ohio 43223-1102; Preliminary Legislation is attached as EXHIBIT A.
Section 2. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this Ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
