WHEREAS, the City has received a grant to widen East Johnstown Road from Beecher/Dark Star to YMCA Place/Rose Way, and plans were prepared in 2003 by Stilson; and

 

WHEREAS, construction plans need to be reworked and the design updated because of improvements in the area and the City has received a new proposal from Stilson for this work; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Engineer has recommended we proceed with Stilson; and

 

WHEREAS, the original 2003 plans will be utilized to the fullest extent by Stilson in preparing the new construction plans; and

 

WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this project for the timely utilization of the grant funds, and all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with W.E. STILSON CONSULTING GROUP, LLC, 355 E. Campus View Blvd., Suite 250, Columbus, Ohio 43235, for engineering and construction services for the widening of East Johnstown Road from Beecher/Dark Star to YMCA Place/Rose Way; proposal attached as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.

 

Section 2.  That funding in the amount of FORTY SEVEN THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($47,300) was set aside in the 2008 Appropriations to Account No. 325.122.5596, Capital Projects/Improvements, to cover the herein cost.

 

Section 3.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
