TO AMEND CONTRACT WITH M E COMPANIES; CONTRACT AUTHORIZED BY ORD-0214-2001 AND AMENDED BY ORD-0023-2002 FOR CONSULTANT SERVICES; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $300,000 THEREFOR; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, proposal has been received, and has been recommended by the Administration, to extend the contract with ME Companies by addendum for the Bedford 1 and 2 Landfill Closure and Redevelopment Project; and
WHEREAS, the contract with ME Companies was previously approved by ORD-0214-2001 and ORD-0023-2002; and
WHEREAS, funding for this extended contract is required in the amount of $300,000; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire and goal of this Council and Administration to move forward with this project in order to obtain closure of Bedford 1 and 2 Landfills, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Addendum #2 to contract with M E COMPANIES, 635 Brooksedge Boulevard, Westerville, OH 43081, for consultant services as outlined in EXHIBIT A attached hereto.
Section 2. That THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS ($300,000) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance in the general fund to Account Number 101.343.5511, Capital Projects, Development.
Section 3. That ORD-0001-2002 is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.
Section 4. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
