WHEREAS, the City finds it necessary to have a non-profit organization tied to the Parks & Recreation Department for the acceptance of charitable donations; and

WHEREAS, the Parks & Recreation Board will be reviewing and making a recommendation on the creation of the Parks & Recreation Foundation; and

WHEREAS, appropriate paperwork needs to be filed with the State of Ohio and the Internal Revenue Service regarding the establishment of the Foundation; and

WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City to have the authorization to file and the funds available as soon as the Foundation has been recommended by the Parks and Recreation Board and created by Council; and

WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City to move forward as quickly as possible with the creation of the Foundation and to have the funding in place to file the necessary paperwork in order to accept donations as soon as possible, and all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to sign and the City Attorney is hereby authorized to file all necessary documents with the State of Ohio and the Internal Revenue Service for the establishment of the Gahanna Parks & Recreation Foundation once created by Council.

Section 2. That funding in the amount of NINE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($900) is hereby appropriated from the unencumbered unappropriated balance of the General Fund to Account No. 101.431.5401, Parks, Office Expense.

Section 3. That ORD-0001-2008, passed January 2, 2008, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.
