TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH EVANS, MECHWART, HAMBLETON & TILTON, INC., FOR QUARTERLY ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY WATER SAMPLINGS; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the City is required by the E.P.A. to take quarterly water samplings to check disinfect byproducts and chlorine residual in the water; and

 

WHEREAS, the first sampling must be taken by the end of March, so it is imperative to move forward with this ordinance all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to center into contract with Evans, Mechwart, Hambleton & Tilton, Inc.,170 Mill Street, Gahanna, Ohio 43230, for quarterly EPA water samplings, in accordance with City specifications.

 

Section 2.  That funding in the amount of SIX THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS ($6,400) was set aside in the 2002 Appropriations to Account No. 651.350.5470, EPA Water Testing, to cover the herein costs.

 

Section 3.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and after signature approval by the Mayor.
