TO AUTHORIZE THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE TO AWARD AND DIRECTOR OF PARKS & RECREATION TO PURCHASE TORO BRAND IRRIGATION PRODUCTS FOR THE GAHANNA MUNICIPAL GOLF COURSE IRRIGATION SYSTEM FROM CENTURY EQUIPMENT; TO WAIVE SECOND READING; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, bids were opened on September 20, 2006 for branded irrigation equipment; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Parks & Recreation has recommended the lowest, most responsive, and responsible, bidder; and
WHEREAS, several alternates were included in the bids and the decision has been made to purchase an upgraded controller at a cost of approximately $12,000; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with the purchase of the equipment, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Director of Public Service is hereby authorized to award and the Director of Parks & Recreation to purchase Toro Brand Irrigation Products from CENTURY EQUIPMENT CO., INC., 5959 Angola Road, Toledo, Ohio, 43615, for the Gahanna Municipal Golf Course Irrigation System, in accordance with bid and City specifications; bid tabs attached as EXHIBIT A.
Section 2. That funding in amount of FORTY EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS ($48,000) was set aside to Account No. 101.433.5512, Golf Course, Capital Projects, in the 2006 appropriations to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That second reading is hereby waived.
Section 4. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
