TO AMEND CODE CHAPTER 149, CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION, OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, as a result of changes to our Charter which were approved by the voters in November, 2011; and
WHEREAS, the Civil Service Commission undertook a review of the code to bring it in to conformance with the charter and to clarify procedures; and
WHEREAS, the Civil Service Commission has recommended approval of this code change; and
WHEREAS, it is desirable to have this code in effect prior to a hearing scheduled for April 10, 2012, and all for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That Chapter 149, Civil Service Commission, is hereby amended as set forth in EXHIBIT A, attached hereto and made a part herein.
Section 2. That existing Chapter 149, Civil Service Commission, or any ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith, are hereby repealed.
Section 3. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
