TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENT WITH AVATAR GROUP, ASSOCIATES, INC., FOR CERTAIN HARDWARE, SOFTWARE, AND SERVICES TO COMPLETE POLICE TECHNOLOGY INSTALLATION FOR THE GAHANNA POLICE DEPARTMENT; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, certain technological improvements have been initiated at the Gahanna Police Department; and

 

WHEREAS, it is necessary to proceed with the remainder of this installation to complete our police department program; and

 

WHEREAS, it is necessary to proceed at the earliest possible date with this contract in order to maintain the integrity and networking of technology in police headquarters and branch stations, for officer efficiency and to afford the protection of the public in the best and fastest way possible, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into agreement with AVATAR GROUP, INC., for purchase and completion of installation of hardware, software, and services to complete the project of technological improvements to all Gahanna safety forces in accordance with City specifications, and in accordance with cost proposal submitted January, 2000, said proposal attached hereto as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.

 

Section 2.  That the amount of Two Hundred Thirty-eight Thousand Nine Hundred Forty-one Dollars ($238,941) was set aside to Account No. 101.211.5512, Capital Projects, Police, in the Year 2000 Appropriations, to cover the herein costs.

 

Section 3.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately after passage by this Council and date of signature approval by the Mayor.
