TO AUTHORIZE THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE TO AWARD AND THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH VASCO SPORTS CONTRACTORS FOR RENOVATION OF THE FRIENDSHIP PARK BASKETBALL/TENNIS COURTS; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, bids were opened on March 10, 2006, and the lowest, most responsive, and responsible, bidder has been recommended by the Director of Public Service; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward so that the courts will be ready for peak recreation season, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Director of Public Service is hereby authorized to award and the Mayor is authorized to enter into contract with VASCO SPORTS CONTRACTORS, 4270 Sterilite Street, S.E., Massillon, Ohio 44646, for the renovation of the basketball/tennis court at Friendship Park, in accordance with bid and City specifications, said bid tabulations attached hereto as EXHIBIT A.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of FORTY EIGHT THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED SEVENTEEN DOLLARS ($48,617) was set aside in the 2006 Appropriations to Account No. 101.431.5511, Capital Projects, Parks, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
