A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF PUBLIC INPUT ON SENATE BILL 317

WHEREAS, Senator Jim Jordan, Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Criminal Justice Committee has decided not to allow the public to speak on SB 317; and
WHEREAS, the results of this decision are that citizens are denied their right to participate in their government and that the bill will be denied full consideration by the General Assembly; and
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 317 begins to address the issue of driver distraction; and
WHEREAS, it is incumbent upon our elected officials to obtain as much information as possible on a subject under consideration;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Council of the City of Gahanna supports the right of Ohioans to voice their concerns and suggestions in public hearings for SB 317.
Section 2. That this resolution shall be in full force and effect at the earliest period allowed by law.
