TO HONOR GAHANNA RESIDENT LINDA MELZER ON BEING INDUCTED INTO THE USA TRACK & FIELD HALL OF FAME.

WHEREAS, LINDA MELZER has been a track & field official for more than 35 years and is most usually found as Clerk or Chief Clerk at major track & field meets; and
WHEREAS, LINDA MELZER has attained Master Level Certification as a track & field official; and
WHEREAS, her resume includes the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, 5 Olympic trials, many USATF National Championships, Special Olympics, International Competitions such as the Goodwill Games, World Police and Fire Fighters Games, NCAA Championships and many Ohio High School Championships and the Columbus Marathon; and
WHEREAS, in addition LINDA MELZER served as President, Secretary and Treasurer of the Track Registry Association of Central Ohio and served on the Ohio High School Athletic Association Advisory Board as well as being President of the USATF Ohio Association and is currently its secretary; and
WHEREAS, during her 7 years as President of the National Officials Committee, she never stopped fighting for the officials of our country;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That this Council hereby honors and commends LINDA MELZER for her dedicated service as an official for the USA Track & Field Association and her induction into the Hall of Fame.
Section 2. That this resolution shall be in full force and effect at the earliest period allowed by law.
