TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH METEORLOGIX, INC. ; TO WAIVE SECOND READING; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, Emergency Management Director, Jim Williams has researched the market for the best, most reasonable and efficient weather service provider; and
WHEREAS, Meteorlogix, Inc. is a weather service provider and this system will give the City the capability to track and forecast the effects of severe weather; and
WHEREAS, the total on the attached contract is $1803 plus $550 for the installation of a satellite dish for a total amount of $2355; and
WHEREAS, funding in the amount of $2355 is available in 2003 Appropriations funds for this work to be completed; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this legislation to have it in place while still in our severe weather season, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with METEORLOGIX, INC., 4 BEARS RUN LANE, CLEVELAND, OHIO, 44116, for provision of weather service, said contract attached hereto as EXHIBIT A.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of TWO THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED FIFTY FIVE DOLLARS ($2355) was appropriated in the 2003 Appropriations to Account No. 101.348.5511, Network - Capital Projects to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That second reading of the legislation is hereby waived.
Section 4. That for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
