TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENT WITH GENERAL INNOVATIONS & GOODS, INC., TO INSTALL THE CREON 2000 AIR DISINFECTION SYSTEM AT THE POLICE STATION; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $9,412; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, in the normal course of operation of the Police Department individuals are arrested who have extreme health problems; and

 

WHEREAS, this puts our police officers at risk along with the fact that it is extremely humid in the Police Station and officers are exposed to bacteria, mold and viruses; and

 

WHEREAS, proposal has been received from General Innovations & Goods, for an air disinfection system which has been successful in other Police Departments, and the Mayor has recommended that we proceed with them; and

 

WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this immediately all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into agreement with General Innovations & Goods, Inc., P.O. Box 09607, Columbus, Ohio, 43209, for installation of the Creon 2000 Air Disinfection System at the Gahanna Police Department.

 

Section 2.  That funding in the amount of NINE THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED TWELVE DOLLARS ($9,412) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the General  Fund to Account No. 101.211.5512, Capital Projects/Equipment Police, to cover the herein costs.

 

Section 3.  That ORD-0001-2001, passed January 2, 2001, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.

 

Section 4.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on the date of signature approval by the Mayor.
