TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH B & C COMMUNICATIONS FOR EQUIPPING AND UPFITTING OF TWO POLICE VEHICLES; TO WAIVE THE BID PROCESS; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the City has purchased a Chevrolet Tahoe and an additional police cruiser which need equipping and upfitting of necessary equipment and accessories; and
WHEREAS, B & C is a local company that has worked upfitting other police vehicles for the City and they are familiar with our fleet and the technology we use and are able to do the upfit immediately; and
WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has recommended we proceed with B & C Communications; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this ordinance so the cruiser upfitting can take place as soon as possible to get them on the road to replace cruisers that are now out of service, and all for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Contract with B & C COMMUNICATIONS, 1330 Stimmel Road, Columbus, Ohio 43223, for equipping and upfitting of two police cruisers with necessary equipment, graphics and accessories, as specified in EXHIBIT A attached hereto.
Section 2. That the bid process is hereby waived.
Section 3. That funding in the amount of THIRTEEN THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($13,500) was set aside in the 2010 Appropriations to Account No. 101.211.5512, Police Major Capital, to cover the herein costs.
Section 4. That funding in the amount of TWENTY TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS ($22,000) is available in Account No. 235.211.55512, FLETF Capital Equipment, to further cover the herein costs.
Section 5. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Counci...
