A JOINT RESOLUTION AND PROCLAMATION RECOGNIZING MAY 2-8, 2026 AS "HERB'N RESTAURANT WEEK" IN THE CITY OF GAHANNA AND CELEBRATING THE CITY'S DESIGNATION AS THE HERB CAPITAL OF OHIO
BODY

WHEREAS, Gahanna has a long and distinguished history of cultivating herbs dating back to the late 1800s and early 1900s, when residents became known for the quality and abundance of herbs they produced; and

WHEREAS, this rich agricultural heritage led to Gahanna earning the nickname "Herb Capital," a designation formally recognized by the Ohio General Assembly in 1972 through the efforts of community leader Jane "Bunnie" Geroux; and

WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna continues to honor and promote this legacy through community events, local partnerships, and support of small businesses that incorporate herbs into culinary and cultural experiences; and

WHEREAS, Herb'n Restaurant Week, taking place May 2 through May 8, 2026, highlights Gahanna's identity as the Herb Capital of Ohio by showcasing herb-inspired dishes and beverages created by local restaurants, caf?s, and beverage establishments; and

WHEREAS, Herb'n Restaurant Week is being recognized in conjunction with National Small Business Week and provides an opportunity to recognize and support the small businesses that contribute to Gahanna's economic vitality, community character, and culinary innovation; and

WHEREAS, participating establishments, including restaurants, coffee shops, wineries, and distilleries, demonstrate creativity and community pride by featuring herb-infused menu items and encouraging residents and visitors to "eat local" and experience Gahanna's unique offerings; and

WHEREAS, events such as Herb'n Restaurant Week strengthen community connections, promote tourism, and celebrate the local entrepreneurs whose dedication sustains Gahanna's reputation as the Herb Capital of Ohio.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT JOINTLY RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL AND PROCLAIMED BY THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA...
