TO RECOGNIZE THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 3-9, 1999 AS FIRE PREVENTION WEEK; TO COMMEND THE MIFFLIN TOWNSHIP FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR EXCELLENCE; AND TO REAFFIRM THE THEME, "FIRE DRILLS: THE GREAT ESCAPE!"

WHEREAS, the theme, "FIRE DRILLS: THE GREAT ESCAPE!" stresses the importance of recognizing the imminent danger of fire and reacting to it; and
WHEREAS, Mifflin Township Fire Department urges everyone to develop and practice a home fire escape plan; and
WHEREAS, the theme, "FIRE DRILLS: THE GREAT ESCAPE!" is in the second year of an unprecedented three-year public awareness initiative, and 25 lives have been saved as a direct result of this campaign; and
WHEREAS, Mifflin Township Fire Department perseveres in its education of the public both in safe home and business practices; and
WHEREAS, the recognition of Fire Prevention Week is a small token of our esteem of our outstanding members of the Mifflin Township Fire Department;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That this Council and Administration on behalf of the citizens of Gahanna, commend the men and women of the MIFFLIN TOWNSHIP FIRE DEPARTMENT for their efforts in protecting the members of our community in a safe manner; thereby preserving the quality of life.
Section 2. That the residents and business of Gahanna are asked to observe October 3-9, 1999 as Fire Prevention Week, and are urged to develop and practice a home fire escape plan and to keep their homes and businesses fire hazard free.
