TITLE

A RESOLUTION TO PETITION THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO LOWER THE SPEED LIMIT ALONG MORSE ROAD FROM US 62 TO KITZMILLER ROAD FROM 55 MILES PER HOUR TO 45 MILES PER HOUR WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA IN ACCORDANCE WITH OHIO REVISED CODE SECTION 4511.21

BODY

 

WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna Department of Engineering has coordinated with the Franklin County Engineer’s Office and the City of Columbus on a speed zone study; and

 

WHEREAS, the speed evaluation concerned the stretch of roadway along Morse Road from US 62 to Kitzmiller Road within the corporate limits of the City of Gahanna; and

 

WHEREAS, the Administration and Council agree with the speed study’s recommendation to lower the speed from 55 miles per hour to 45 miles per hour for said stretch of roadway.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1. That the City of Gahanna concurs with the recommendation set forth in EXHIBIT A, attached hereto and made a part herein, lowering the speed limit for the area of Morse Road between US 62 and Kitzmiller Road in the corporate limits of the City of Gahanna from 55 miles per hour to 45 miles per hour.

 

Section 2. That the Mayor or Mayor’s designee is authorized to request the Ohio Department of Transportation to determine and declare a reasonable and safe prima-facie speed limit consistent with Section 1 of this Resolution and in accordance with Ohio Revised Code Section 4511.21.

 

Section 3. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect at the earliest period allowed by law.
