TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AMENDMENT TO LEASE AGREEMENT WITH THE GAHANNA-JEFFERSON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, NOW KNOWN AS THE GAHANNA AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE; AND TO DECLARE EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the Gahanna Jefferson Chamber of Commerce is now known as the Gahanna Area Chamber of Commerce; and

 

WHEREAS the Gahanna Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking a modification to their existing lease in consideration for relinquishing their existing space and lease at 94 North High Street, which does not expire until 2022; and

 

WHEREAS, by vacating the space on North High Street, the property then becomes available for City use; and

 

WHEREAS, this amended agreement recognizes that the Chamber of Commerce is relinquishing their existing space effective February 2008 and ending their leasehold rights to the above mentioned property; and

 

WHEREAS, it is desirable to enter into this amendment to the lease agreement so that the Chamber may execute a new lease with the CIC and move as soon as possible, and all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1. The the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Amendment to Lease Agreement with the Gahanna Area Chamber of Commerce, said Amendment to Lease Agreement attached hereto as EXHIBIT A.

 

Section 2.  That the original lease agreement with the Gahanna-Jefferson Chamber of Commerce is attached hereto as EXHIBIT B.

 

Section 2.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
