TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENT WITH THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, ADOPTING PLANS, PROPOSING TO COOPERATE, AND REQUESTING THE DIRECTOR TO PROCEED WITH THE ENHANCEMENT OF LANDSCAPE AND GATEWAY ENTRY FEATURES ON U. S. ROUTE NO. 62, BEGINNING AT APPROXIMATELY IR-270 TO THE INTERSECTION OF RIDENOUR ROAD; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the Director of the Ohio Department of Transportation has requested agreement of cooperation from the City in the planning, design, and construction of improvement to U. S. Route No. 62 gateway entry features; and

 

WHEREAS, it is important and necessary that this agreement be executed in a timely manner in order to reach an orderly completion of this project due to the continuing efforts to improve the overall development of this important entry to the west side of our community, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare:

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into AGREEMENT WITH THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, ADOPTING PLANS, PROPOSING TO COOPERATE, AND REQUESTING THE DIRECTOR TO PROCEED WITH THE ENHANCEMENT OF LANDSCAPE AND GATEWAY ENTRY FEATURES ON U. S. ROUTE NO. 62, BEGINNING AT APPROXIMATELY IR-270 TO THE INTERSECTION OF RIDENOUR ROAD, said Agreement attached hereto as EXHIBIT A.

 

Section 2.  That funding for this work in the amount of One Hundred Ten Thousand Dollars ($110,000) was set aside in the 1999 Appropriations to Account No. 101.343.5511, West Gate Entryway, Capital Improvement.

 

Section 3.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force after passage by this Council and shall be effective upon the date of signature approval by the Mayor.
