WHEREAS, bids were accepted for the Low Water Crossing, Improvement No. 798, on June 7, 2002; and

 

WHEREAS, the lowest and best bidder has been selected by the City Engineer with the concurrence of the Director of Public Service; and

 

WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this project due to construction time remaining this year, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Director of Public Service is authorized to award, and the Mayor is authorized to enter into contract with DOUBLE Z CONSTRUCTION, 1080 Ridge Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215, for construction of a pedestrian link between the Creekside island and the west side; Low Water Crossing, Improvement No. 798, in accordance with bid and City specifications; bid tab attached as EXHIBIT A.

 

Section 2.  That funding in the amount of NINETY NINE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED EIGHTY DOLLARS ($99,880) was set aside in the 2002 Appropriations to Account No. 101.145.5541, Engineering, Streets, to cover the herein costs.

 

Section 3.  That for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
