TITLE

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN AMENDED AGREEMENT WITH THE GAHANNA COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT CORPORATION (CIC) AND THE CITY TO FURTHER DEFINE USE OF FUNDING

BODY

 

WHEREAS, the City previously adopted ORD-0005-2023, which authorized a three-year agreement that expires December 31, 2024, between the City of Gahanna and the Gahanna Community Improvement Corporation (CIC); and

 

WHEREAS, said agreement outlines the scope of CIC obligations, City of Gahanna obligations, and miscellaneous provisions of the relationship between the bodies; and

 

WHEREAS, Section III, Paragraph 2 of said agreement states, “The City agrees to pay the CIC eligible expenses through the implementation of the Gahanna Land Bank Program”; and

 

WHEREAS, the CIC desires clarifying this language to further define “eligible expenses” to include costs associated with holding purchased properties, such as demolition, property taxes, security measures, hazard mitigation, utilities, and other typical costs related to property ownership responsibilities.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1. That this Council hereby adopts the amendments to the 2022-2024 Agreement with the Gahanna CIC and authorizes the Mayor to execute the amended Agreement; said amended Agreement is attached hereto as EXHIBIT A and made a part herein.

 

Section 2. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon passage by this Council and 30 days after date of signature of approval by the Mayor.
