TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENT WITH RECWARE, SIERRA DIGITAL INC., FOR THE PURCHASE OF PARKS AND RECREATION SOFTWARE; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $6,495 THEREFOR; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, the software used by Parks & Recreation was not Year 2000 compliant; and
WHEREAS, due to a change in personnel it has taken the department until now to research various software packages and make their recommendation; and
WHEREAS, since we are now in the prime registration season and this software is for program registrations and facility reservations, both of which are being done by hand at this point; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to get this software on line as soon as possible for the orderly flow of business in the department, and for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into agreement with Sierra Digital Inc., 937 Enterprise Drive, Sacramento CA 95825 for the purchase of RecWare software, said agreement attached hereto as EXHIBIT A.
Section 2. That SIX THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED NINETY FIVE DOLLARS ($6,495) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unappropriated unencumbered balance in the general fund to account number 101.432.5511, Recreation, Capital Projects.
Section 3. That ORD-0001-2000, passed January 3, 2000, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.
Section 4. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
