Title

 

TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH WAYNE HOWARD; FOR PURPOSES OF THIS CONTRACT, TO RENAME HIS POSITION TO DEPUTY CHIEF OF POLICE OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA;  AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

Body

 

WHEREAS, it is the decision of  Wayne Howard to enter into Contract for his services with the Gahanna Police Division; and

 

WHEREAS, it is his further decision, which has been approved by the Gahanna Civil Service Commission, to rename his position Deputy Chief of Police; and

 

WHEREAS, said Contract is equipped with the benefit and review procedures which are deemed appropriate by this Council and Administration; and

 

WHEREAS, in order to effect the terms of this Contract by January 1, 1999, it is deemed necessary and prudent to declare this legislation emergency for guaranteed continuity for the second in command of our police division, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Contract with Wayne Howard in his renamed position of Deputy Chief of Police of the City of Gahanna, said Contract attached to this ordinance as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.

 

Section 2.  That Ordinance No. 94-95, passed July 5, 1995 and Ordinance No. 175-96, passed October 15, 1996, and any ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith, are hereby repealed.

 

Section 3.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this authorizing ordinance is declared emergency legislation, and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and approval by the Mayor.
