A RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING COMMUNITY LIAISON OFFICER KELIE MOFFITT ON HER RETIREMENT FROM THE GAHANNA DIVISION OF POLICE
BODY

WHEREAS, Officer Kelie Moffitt first joined the Gahanna Division of Police in 2002, having previously served as a communications technician with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office and as a police dispatcher with the City of Upper Arlington; and

WHEREAS, Officer Moffitt is recognized not only by her Division colleagues but by the law enforcement community at large for her proactive police work and community engagement abilities; and

WHEREAS, Officer Moffitt served as the first and only female officer in the Division's narcotics unit history, and the first female officer in the history of the Division to serve on the tactical response unit, what is now the SWAT team; and

WHEREAS, Officer Moffitt's deep ties with the community and service thereto led to her becoming the City's first Community Liaison Officer (CLO), a position established through the 2022 budget to act as a bridge between the Division and the community's residents who are in crisis, navigating mental health issues, facing homelessness, and confronting addiction-related challenges; and

WHEREAS, through Officer Moffitt's leadership as CLO, the Division has strengthened its rapport with the community through initiatives such as coat and bicycle drives for children in need, mental health and addiction-related referrals to help residents and families access vital resources, and the Starfish Assignment reading program which has fostered positive relationships with the City's youth.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:

Section 1. That the City Council does hereby honor and commend Kelie Moffitt for her twenty-eight years of dedicated service in public safety, joining the chorus of the entire City in expressing its gratitude for her service as a Gahanna Guardian, and wishing her good health...
