TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH EVANS, MECHWART, HAMBLETON & TILTON, INC., FOR INSPECTION SERVICES FOR THE RECONSTRUCTION OF FENCHURCH WAY AND FAIRHOLM ROAD, IMPROVEMENT NO. 694; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, bids have been recommended and accepted for the Reconstruction of Fenchurch Way and Fairholm Road, Improvement No. 694, and it is imperative that the City provide adequate inspection of this work to ensure the quality of work and that all work is done according to City and bid specifications; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to provide these inspection services immediately upon commencement of this program, all for the protection of the public moneys and for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is authorized to enter into contract with EVANS, MECHWART, HAMBLETON & TILTON, INC., 170 Mill Street, Gahanna, Ohio 43230 in accordance with City and bid specifications.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of $22,500 was set aside in the 1998 Appropriations to Account No. 101.145.5541, Capital Projects, Streets, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this ordinance is declared emergency and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and approval by the Mayor.
