WHEREAS, along with the Gahanna Woods Detention Basin the City is looking for other solutions to help eliminate the erosion and water quality problems in the area; and
 
WHEREAS, a new method of watershed management by constructing bioswales that store water in many small areas with underground gravel beds has been successful; and
 
WHEREAS, the lawn strip area in Farm Place is well suited for a pilot bioswale project; and
 
WHEREAS, proposal has been received from URS to develop engineering plans for this project, and the City Engineer has recommended we proceed with them for the project;
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
 
Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with URS, 277 West Nationwide Blvd., Columbus, Ohio 43215, for design of the Farmwood Place Bioswale Pilot Project, Improvement No. ST 982; proposal attached as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.  
 
Section 2.  That funding in the amount of TWENTY EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS ($28,000) was set aside in the 2012 Appropriations to Account No. 631.350.5596, Stormwater Capital Projects/Improvements, to cover the herein costs.
 
Section 3.  That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and 30 days after date of signature approval by the Mayor.
