TO AMEND ORD-0287-2000, WHICH PROVIDED RATES OF PAY AND BENEFITS FOR UNCLASSIFIED PERSONNEL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA FOR THE PERIOD JANUARY 1, 2001, THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2001, TO PROVIDE FOR THE HIRING OF THE DIRECTOR OF EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS AT MORE THAN THE BOTTOM OF THE RANGE; TO WAIVE SECOND READING; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the City has been in discussions with the City of Reynoldsburg about the establishment of an East Side Emergency Communications Center; and
WHEREAS, the City has agreed to hire a Director of Emergency Communications to work towards the establishment of an East Side Emergency Communciations Center; and
WHEREAS, after a long search in the national job market it is the recommendation of the Administration and the City of Reynoldsburg to hire an individual at more than the bottom of the range; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to get a person on board as quickly as possible to provide stability and direction for the creation of the Department of Emergency Communications, and all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That Article II, Pay Ranges, of ORD-0287-2000, passed December 18, 2000, is hereby amended as shown in EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.
Section 2. That existing Article II, Pay Ranges, of ORD-0287-2000 is repealed as of the effective date of this ordinance.
Section 3. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation, and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and approval by the Mayor.
