RESOLUTION COMMEMORATING LGBTQ PRIDE MONTH, FOR THE MONTH OF JUNE 2021.
BODY
WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna supports the rights, freedoms, and equality of all persons; and
WHEREAS, on May 7, 2012, City Council passed a Motion Resolution to reaffirm the City’s Vision & Mission Statement, which promotes “respect among its citizens” and “that city government will continue to be responsive, accessible, and accountable to our diverse and growing community of citizens”; and
WHEREAS, Lesbian, Gay, Transgender, Bisexual, and Queer (LGBTQ) Pride Month is celebrated annually in the month of June to honor the 1969 Stonewall Riots in New York City, which marked a pivotal point for LGBTQ rights in the United States; and
WHEREAS, this City Council wishes to recognize LGBTQ Pride Month during the month of June 2021 to celebrate diversity and inclusion among the residents of Gahanna and to recognize the impact that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals have had on our community.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. City Council hereby recognizes June 2021 as LGBTQ Pride Month in the City of Gahanna.
Section 2. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect at the earliest period allowed by law.
