A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING VETERANS DAY 2025 AND HONORING THE SERVICE AND SACRIFICE OF THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO HAVE SERVED IN THE UNITED STATES ARMED FORCES
BODY

WHEREAS, November 11, 2025, marks Veterans Day, a day when our nation pauses to honor the brave men and women who have worn the uniform of the United States military and who have defended our country with courage, duty, and honor; and

WHEREAS, Veterans Day traces its origins to the armistice that ended World War I on November 11, 1918, a solemn moment that symbolized hope, peace, and the end of global conflict; and

WHEREAS, every member of the United States Armed Forces takes a sacred oath, pledging to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; to bear true faith and allegiance to the same", an enduring promise that binds generations of service members to the protection of the freedoms and democratic ideals upon which our nation was founded; and

WHEREAS, this oath affirms that the defense of our nation is not only a call to arms, but a call to conscience, to preserve the Constitution as the supreme law that safeguards liberty, justice, and equality for all; and

WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna recognizes that the Constitution belongs to every American citizen, and that its defense is a shared civic responsibility, requiring our continued vigilance, participation, and respect for the rule of law to ensure that government remains of, by, and for the People; and

WHEREAS, our veterans have demonstrated, through service and sacrifice, that defending the Constitution is more than a duty, it is an act of faith in the American promise and a testament to the enduring strength of our democracy; and

WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna is proud to be home to many veterans, active-duty service members, and military families who enrich our neighborhoods, schools, and civic life through their continued leadership and example; and
