TO URGE THE UNITED STATES POST OFFICE TO KEEP THEIR DISTRIBUTION FACILITY WITHIN THE GAHANNA CORPORATE BOUNDARIES

WHEREAS, the Post Office lease on Mill Street expires in February 2004; and

 

WHEREAS, the Post Office has been actively seeking sites within and outside of Gahanna; and

 

WHEREAS, in the process of narrowing down their acceptable sites they have chosen only one site within the Gahanna corporate boundaries; and

 

WHEREAS, the Post Office chose to disregard the zoning codes of the City of Gahanna when relocating its retail operation; and

 

WHEREAS, inconvenience to Gahanna businesses and residents will persist if the distribution facility is moved out of the corporate limites;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That this Council and Administration strongly urge the Post Office to provide a distribution facility within the Gahanna corporate boundaries.

 

Section 2.  That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect at the earliest period allowed by law.
