TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF OHIO, DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, FOR SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOLS FUNDING GRANT; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $4,000; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the City has been awarded a Safe Routes to Schools Grant by ODOT and we need to accept the grant and authorize the Mayor to enter into Agreement with ODOT; and

 

WHEREAS, it is necessary to proceed immediately with this funding agreement so that work can begin immediately, and all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Agreement   with the Ohio Department of Transportation, 1980 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43223, for Safe Routes to Schools Grant; Agreement attached as EXHIBIT A , and made a part herein.

 

Section 2.  That funding in the amount of FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS ($4,000) received from the Grant is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the General Fund to the following accounts:

 

101.431.5111, Parks, Part-time       $2,354

101.431.5138, Medicare                       34

101.431.5131, PERS                           330

101.431.5132, Workers Comp              82

101.431.5301, Office Supplies          1,200

                                 TOTAL        $4,000.

 

Section 3.  That ORD-0001-2008, passed January 2, 2008, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.

 

Section 4.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
