TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO NEGOTIATED LABOR AGREEMENT TITLED "AGREEMENT BETWEEN CITY OF GAHANNA AND UNITED STEEL, PAPER & FORESTRY, RUBBER, MANUFACTURING, ENERGY, ALLIED INDUSTRIAL AND SERVICE WORKERS INTERNATIONAL, JANUARY 2, 2008 TO JANUARY 1, 2011"; TO REPEAL ORD-0022-2005; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, Legal Counsel for the City, City Administrative Designees, and the United Steel, Paper & Forestry, Rubber, Manufacturing, Energy, Allied Industrial and Service Workers International, have negotiated the pay and benefit package for the classified employees of the City of Gahanna, and have made recommendation to this Council; and
WHEREAS, it is deemed appropriate by this Council for employee morale and continuity of City business to proceed with new legislation for salary and benefit provisions to be effective January 1, 2008, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into negotiated Labor Agreement, "AGREEMENT BETWEEN CITY OF GAHANNA AND UNITED STEEL, PAPER & FORESTRY, RUBBER, MANUFACTURING, ENERGY, ALLIED INDUSTRIAL AND SERVICE WORKERS INTERNATIONAL, JANUARY 2, 2008 TO JANUARY 1, 2011."
Section 2. That the pay and benefits of this Agreement shall be effective January 2, 2008.
Section 3. That Ordinance No. ORD-0022-2005, and any ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith, are hereby repealed.
Section 4. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this ordinance shall be declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
