A RESOLUTION COMMEMORATING THE OPENING OF THE GAHANNA CIVIC CENTER AT 825 TECH CENTER DRIVE AND RECOGNIZING A NEW CHAPTER IN THE HISTORY OF PUBLIC SERVICE IN GAHANNA
BODY

WHEREAS, since the founding of Gahanna in 1849, generations of residents have shaped a community defined by service, connection, enterprise, and civic pride; and following the Village’s incorporation in 1881, the places in which its citizens gathered, elected officials deliberated, and public servants carried out the work of local government have continued to evolve alongside the community they serve; and

WHEREAS, as Gahanna grew, so too did the places and institutions devoted to serving its residents, each municipal home reflecting the needs, aspirations, and possibilities of its time; and

WHEREAS, in 2026, the City of Gahanna proudly opens the Gahanna Civic Center at 825 Tech Center Drive, bringing together City Hall, the Gahanna Division of Police, and the Gahanna Senior Center in a shared municipal complex designed to strengthen public service, accessibility, safety, collaboration, and community connection; and

WHEREAS, the Civic Center gives physical form to the vision of Our Gahanna, to cultivate a community where people, neighborhoods, and opportunities connect and thrive, and to the City’s commitment to serve its community with pride and purpose; and

WHEREAS, more than four decades ago, the City described the three stars of Gahanna’s official flag as representing our past, present, and emerging future, and as symbols, above all, of “the indomitable spirit of Gahanna’s citizens to strive for excellence and a quality of life equally available to all”; and

WHEREAS, today, those three stars offer a fitting reflection upon this historic moment: our past, represented by the generations and civic places that brought us here; our present, represented by a community investing in exceptional public service; and our emerging future, represented by a Civic Center created to serve genera...
