TO STATE OBJECTION TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE LITTLE DARBY NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE

WHEREAS, Resolution 990497 supported the establishment of The Little Darby National Wildlife Refuge; and
WHEREAS, the farmers in the area are very opposed and do not want their land taken by the federal government; and
WHEREAS, Deborah Pryce, Congresswoman for that area, is opposed to the preserve now that all the facts are known; and
WHEREAS, funding for this project has been temporarily suspended; and
WHEREAS, this Council, after studying this issue, finds that passage of Resolution 990497 no longer reflects the will of Council regarding the establishment of this Wildlife Refuge;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That Gahanna City Council, along with the Administration, does not support the establishment of the Little Darby National Wildlife Refuge.
Section 2. That any previous resolution by Council on this issue is deemed to be null and void with passage of this resolution.
Section 3. That Gahanna City Council, along with the Administration, request that funding for this project not be reinstated.
Sectoin 4. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect at the earliest period allowed by law.
