TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH JESS HOWARD ELECTRIC FOR HAMILTON ROAD TRAFFIC CONTROLLER UPGRADE; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the signal controller at Hamilton and the old Kroger intersection needs to be upgraded; and
WHEREAS, the upgrade includes a battery backup as well as the new controller; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this project due to construction time remaining this year, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is authorized to enter into Contract with JESS HOWARD ELECTRIC, 6630 Taylor Road, Blacklick, Ohio 43004, for traffic controller upgrade at Hamilton Road and the old Kroger; proposal attached as EXHIBIT A and made a part herein.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of TWENTY THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS (20,500) was appropriated to Account No. 220.330.5541, Street Fund, Capital Improvements in the 2006 appropriations.
Section 3. That, for there reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
