TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO FILE AN APPLICATION WITH THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY FOR THE PURPOSE OF ACQUIRING FUNDS THROUGH THE COPS GRANT PROGRAM

WHEREAS, the Ohio Department of Public Safety has funds available through the COPS Grant Program to provide funds to local law enforcement agencies, specifically to share data information with other law enforcement agencies; and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to apply for ten mobile data computers through a grant application to the COPS Grant Program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That this Council hereby endorses and supports applying for a grant through the Ohio Department of Public Safety for a COPS Grant.
Section 2. That the Mayor of the City of Gahanna is hereby designated as the Authorized Official and is thereby the official signatory for all grant documents.
Section 3. That all formal actions of this Council concerning the adoption of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council and all deliberations of this Council or any Council committees that result in such formal action were in meetings open to the public and in compliance with all legal requirements, including Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code.
Section 4. That this resolution shall be in full force and effect at the earliest period allowed by law.
