TITLE
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH DECKER CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR THE 2026 STREET AND SIDEWALK MAINTENANCE PROGRAM (ST-1122/TR-CM-01)
BODY
WHEREAS, on March 17, 2026, the City of Gahanna opened and reviewed bids for the 2026 Street and Sidewalk Maintenance Program (TR-CM-01), which includes concrete work, pavement milling, asphalt resurfacing, crack sealing, micro-surfacing, preservation sealing, and sidewalk and pavement markings; and
WHEREAS, a total of three (3) bids were received, and upon evaluation of cost, responsiveness, and responsibility, Decker Construction Company was determined to be the lowest responsive and responsible bidder; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Engineering recommends awarding the contract to Decker Construction Company in the base bid amount of $1,428,347.42; and
WHEREAS, the Department further recommends including a 10% contingency in the amount of $142,834.74 to cover any unforeseen construction costs, bringing the total authorized contract amount to $1,571,182.16.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into a contract with Decker Construction Company, primary offices located at 3042 McKinley Ave, Columbus, Ohio 43204, for the 2026 Street and Sidewalk Maintenance Program (TR-CM-01) in an amount not to exceed one million five hundred seventy-one thousand one hundred eighty-two dollars and sixteen cents ($1,571,182.16), as further detailed in the contract attached hereto and incorporated herein as EXHIBIT A.
Section 2. The funds required for this contract have been previously appropriated from account 32506550-5500.
Section 3. That pursuant to City Charter Section 4.14, whereas the 30-day referendum period does not apply for ordinances authorizing and executing a construction contract, this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Coun...
