TO AUTHORIZE THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE TO AWARD AND THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT EASTSIDE NURSERY FOR TAYLOR ROAD STREET TREES, IMPROVEMENT NO. 645-A, AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, bids were opened on January 29, 1999, pursuant to Council authorization, and the best, responsible, and responsive bidder has been recommended by the Director of Public Service and City Engineer; and
WHEREAS, purchasing and planting of this kind of a project is subject to weather season, and it is desirable to proceed with this purchase at the earliest possible date, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Director of Public Service is authorized to award and the Mayor authorized to enter into contract with EASTSIDE NURSERY, P. O. Box 127, Lithopolis Road, Groveport, Ohio 43215 for Taylor Road Street Trees, Improvement No. 645-A, in accordance with bid and City specifications.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of Forty-five Thousand Eight Hundred Ten Dollars ($45,810) was set aside in the 1999 Appropriations to Account No. 101.436.5548, Capital Projects, Landscape Board, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and approval by the Mayor.
