WHEREAS, grant monies have been awarded to the City by the Ohio Public Works Commission for the Hamilton Road widening project, Improvement No. 784; and

 

WHEREAS, these funds were paid on the City's behalf directly to the Franklin County Engineer as part of this project during 2006; and

 

WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council and the Gahanna Finance Department to supplementally appropriate these funds in order to show grant money paid on our behalf to contractors as both revenue and expense, thus creating a zero effect on the general fund; and

 

WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this ordinance all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare; 

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That this Council and Administration, on behalf of the citizens of Gahanna do hereby accept Ohio Public Works Commission grant monies for the Hamilton Road widening project.

 

Section 2.  That funding in the amount of ONE MILLION EIGHT HUNDRED NINETY THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED TWENTY FOUR  DOLLARS ($1,890,424) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the General Fund to Account No. 101.145.5541, Engineering/Streets.

 

Section 3.  That ORD-0001-2006, passed January 2, 2006, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.

 

Section 4.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
