TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO MAKE APPLICATION FOR CLEAN OHIO CONSERVATION FUNDS FOR THE ACQUISITION OF PROPERTY WITHIN THE HOMEWOOD DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION'S GAHANNA FOXWOOD SECTION 3 SUBDIVISION FOR WETLAND PROTECTION.

WHEREAS, the Ohio Public Works Commission has funds available for green space acquisition as part of the Clean Ohio Conservation Fund (COCF); and
WHEREAS, regarding Section 3 of the Foxwood subdivision, the developer and the City of Gahanna have reached an agreement on how best to protect the Buttonbush swamp contiguous to the aforementioned section; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Parks and Recreation has requested that application be made for Clean Ohio Funds for the acquisition of 0.794 acres of property on Kason's Way, off of Taylor Road for wetland protection; and
WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna supports and has a need for such improvements; and
WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna is eligible to apply for approximately $167,625 in grant funding and will contribute approximately $55,875 in matching funds to benefit its citizens and the environment;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to sign and submit the COCF application for the approximately 0.794 acres of property located on Kason's Way, off of Taylor Road, Gahanna, Ohio 43230.
Section 2. That this Council hereby authorizes the Mayor to submit an application to the State of Ohio Public Works Commission for a Clean Ohio Conservation Fund grant for the total project amount determined to support the property acquisition for green space.
Section 3. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute all documents required by the COCF law, policies and agreements in making such application and, if the City is selected as a grant recipient, accepting the grant funds.
