Title

TO ALLOW THE HIRING OF A PARKS SUPERINTENDENT AT A RATE HIGHER THAN ALLOWED BY ORDINANCE NO. 980441, WHICH PROVIDED RATES OF PAY AND BENEFITS FOR SUPERVISORY PERSONNEL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA FOR THE PERIOD JANUARY 1, 1998, THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2000, TO TRANSFER FUNDS TO PAY SAID SALARY; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

Body

WHEREAS, Carl Norris has been appointed to the Parks Superintendent position after a closed promotional test; and

 

WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Administration and this Council concurs that Carl Norris be appointed to the position of Parks Superintendent while still fulfilling the responsibilities of Greenskeeper until a Civil Service test can be given and a person hired for the Greenskeeper position; all for the continued orderly conduct of the Parks and Recreation Department during its busiest season, and for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That Article III, Wages and Service Credit, of Section 4(a) of EXHIBIT A to Ordinance No. 980441, passed November 2, 1998, is hereby varied to allow the employment of Carl Norris as Parks Superintendent in range C-20, Step B.

 

Section 2.  That said appointment and pay scale is retroactive to May 2, 2000.

 

Section 3.  That THIRTY THREE THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED EIGHTY FOUR DOLLARS ($33,484) is hereby transferred from account number 101.431.5208, Deputy Director, to account number 101.431.5103, Parks Superintendent.

 

Section 4.  That ORD-0001-2000, passed January 3, 2000,  is hereby amended to reflect this transfer of funds.

 

Section 5.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation, and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
