TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH EVANS, MECHWART, HAMBLETON & TILTON, INC., FOR REDESIGN OF INTERSECTION, IMPROVEMENT NO. 776, FOR STYGLER ROAD FROM JOHNSTOWN ROAD TO U.S. 62; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, it is critical to have the intersection of South Stygler from Johnstown Road to U.S. 62 analyzed due to proposed development of South Stygler, along with preliminary and final design work on the intersection, Improvement No. 776; and
WHEREAS, letterhead quote has been received from Evans, Mechwart, Hambleton & Tilton, Inc., for the design work and the City Engineer has recommended that we accept it; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this work immediately so that the majority of the project can be completed in the 2001 season, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contact with EVANS, MECHWART, HAMBLETON & TILTON, INC., 170 Mill Street, Gahanna, Ohio, 43230, for redesign of the intersection of South Stygler Road, Improvement No. 781; said agreement attached to this ordinance as EXHIBIT A.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($50,000) was appropriated in the 2001 Appropriations, to Account No. 101.145.5533, Capital Projects, Engineering, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this legislation is hereby declared emergency and shall go into full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and approval by the Mayor.
