WHEREAS, currently the server rooms at City Hall and the Police Station have only one HVAC source to cool the rooms and computer servers are very sensitive to heat and produce a lot of heat themselves and keeping the rooms cool is a requirement at all times; and

WHEREAS, a secondary cooling source is needed as soon as possible to prevent damage to the servers; and

WHEREAS, the City has received proposal from Trane to address all redundant cooling needs for the server rooms, and the Director of Information Technology and the Director of Public Service have recommended we proceed with them; and

WHEREAS, it is imperative to proceed with this project as soon as possible all for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Contract with TRANE, 2300 CityGate Drive, Columbus, OH 43219, for redundant cooling for the City Hall and Police Department server rooms; to be purchased from State Contract STS#800195; proposal attached as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.

Section 2. That funding in the amount of FORTY EIGHT THOUSAND SIXTY DOLLARS ($48,060) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the General Fund to Account No. 101.141.5596, Lands & Buildings Capital Projects/Improvements, to cover the herein costs.

Section 3. That ORD-0001-2012, passed January 2, 2012, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.
