WHEREAS, The Division of Police needs to purchase equipment to successfully investigate and prosecute offenders suspected in violent crimes and narcotics offenses; and
WHEREAS, The Division wishes to purchase polygraph testing equiment, tactical shotguns and additional Tasers and related recording accessories; and
WHEREAS, this is an appropriate use of the funds seized from offenders prosecuted at the Federal level as the Chief of Police is authorized by statute to use such funds for equipment purchases for the investigation and prosecution of violent crimes and narcotics offenses;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That funding in the amount of THIRTY SEVEN THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($37,300) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unappropriated, unencumbered balance of the Federal Law Enforcement Trust Fund to Account No. 235.211.5411, Federal Law Enforcement Seizure, Expense.
Section 2. That ORD-0001-2008, passed January 2, 2008, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
