TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH BURGESS & NIPLE, LIMITED, FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR THE COLLEGE PARK/HERITAGE SUBDIVISIONS REMEDIATION PROGRAM; IMPROVEMENT NO. 781; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, it has been recommended by the City Engineer and Water Resources Engineer that we proceed with engineering and testing for the  College Park/Heritage Subdivisions Remediation Program; and

 

WHEREAS, the scope of the work will include manhole inspection, flow monitor, smoke and dye testing; and

 

WHEREAS, it is necessary to move forward with this project in a timely fashion to prevent further problems in the College Park/Heritage Subdivisions, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO;

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Contract with Burgess & Niple, Limited, 5085 Reed Road, Columbus, Ohio 43220, for engineering and testing for the College Park/Heritage Subdivisions Remediation Program; proposal attached as EXHIBIT A.

 

Section 2.  That the amount of ONE HUNDRED EIGHTY TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS ($182,000) was appropriated in the 2002 Appropriations to Account No. 661.360.5533, Capital Projects, Sanitary Sewer, to cover the herein costs.

 

Section 3.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on the date of signature approval by the Mayor.
