TITLE

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO PROVIDE CONSENT AND ENTER A PARTICIPATORY AGREEMENT WITH THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR JOINT PLANS FOR REHABILITATION OF THE HAMILTON ROAD BRIDGE OVER INTERSTATE 270

BODY

 

WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna and the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) have been working jointly on plans for the rehabilitation of the Hamilton Road Bridge over Interstate 270; and

 

WHEREAS, ODOT is requesting the City consent to legislation pledging its commitment to participate financially with the decorative fencing, lighting, and a shared use path as a 100 percent local share of funding; and

 

WHEREAS, the local share is estimated to be between $750,000 and $1,000,000 and is to be included as part of the 2024 capital budget request to align with ODOT’s construction schedule slated to begin in the spring of 2024; and

 

WHEREAS, ODOT has requested that consent legislation be returned to their office no later than November 1, 2023.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to provide consent and enter into a participatory agreement with ODOT for the rehabilitation and widening of structure FRA-270-36.94 (PID 86067), including installing decorative fencing and lighting, building a shared use path, and other associated work within the City limits; said consent legislation and project more particularly described in EXHIBIT A attached hereto and made a part herein.

 

Section 2. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and 30 days after signature of approval by the Mayor.
