TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO JOINT MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT WITH MIFFLIN TOWNSHIP TRUSTEES FOR THE PERIOD OCTOBER 1, 2008 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30, 2009; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, for several years the City has joined the townships of Mifflin and Jefferson in maintaining the vehicles belonging to the City, Mifflin Township, and Jefferson Township, and the Administration has recommended that we continue this joint project; and
WHEREAS, the contract period will be from October 1, 2008 through September 30, 2009; and
WHEREAS, the current Agreement expired September 30, 2008, and it is desirable and necessary to authorize a new Agreement for the continuity of the vehicle maintenance, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into "Joint Maintenance Agreement" between the City of Gahanna and Mifflin Township for the period October 1, 2008 through September 30, 2009; said Agreement attached to this ordinance as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.
Section 2. That second reading is hereby waived.
Section 3. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
