TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH AMERICAN ROCK SALT CO., LLC, FOR PURCHASE OF ROCK SALT FOR THE 2012/2013 SEASON.

WHEREAS, our rock salt contract is bid through the SWOP4G consortium and bids were opened on June 26, 2012 for the 2012/2013 season; and
WHEREAS, the lowest responsive and responsible bidder for Gahanna's rock salt needs is American Rock Salt at a price of $58.47 per ton plus a $4.00 piling charge, and the Director of Public Service has recommended we proceed with them;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract for purchase of rock salt for the 2012/2013 season with AMERICAN ROCK SALT CO., LLC, P.O. Box 190, Mt. Morris, NY 14510; Bid tabs attached as EXHIBIT A, and in accordance with bid and City specifications.
Section 2. That funding was set aside in the 2012 Appropriations to Account No. 220.330.5306, Streets, Maintenance Supplies, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and 30 days after signature of approval by the Mayor.
