TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH MEYERSWELSH ARCHITECTURE & DESIGN, TO PROVIDE DESIGN SERVICES AND LIMITED CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATION, FOR A NEW SHELTER AT FRIENDSHIP PARK; TO WAIVE SECOND READING; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, Friendship Park is in great need of a new shelter house; and
WHEREAS, proposal has been received from Meyerswelsh Architecture & Design, and the Director of Parks & Recreation has recommended we proceed with them; and
WHEREAS, the amount specified for the project is an amount not to exceed $10,500; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this project so that the shelter can be completed prior to the start of the summer youth day camp program, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Contract with MEYERSWELSH ARCHITECTURE & DESIGN, 15 East Gay Street, Suite 2a, Columbus, Ohio 43215, to provide design services and limited construction administration for a new shelter at Friendship Park, in an amount not to exceed $10,500; proposal attached as EXHIBIT A.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of TEN THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($10,500) was set aside in the 2005 Appropriations and encumbered to Account No. 328.431.5533, Park In Lieu Fees Capital, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That second reading is hereby waived.
Section 4. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
